FARM FRIDAY

This is an occasion to be noted. . .RARELY--ever--do I get a shot of our farm cat LITTLE BIT. . .except for maybe her back end as she scurries away. . .She never stands still for any length of time when I pick up the camera. . .This is a typical shot. . .

Little Bit is the sweetest ever. . .but so shy. . .Most visitors never know she's around. . .She's John continual companion. . .and mine when I'm outdoors. . .You would think she'd know I mean no harm when I pick up the camera and try to shoot those beautiful yellow-green eyes. . .Nope. . .The minute she hears the camera focusing. . .She's GONE. . .I have more back end photos than a person wants in their album. . .

Which is why I was so surprised when this morning I found her under the shotgun house steps and she allowed me a few minutes for a photo shoot. . .

Companion. . .Mouser. . .Barn Cat. . .Shy. . .and Wistful. . .
That's our LITTLE BIT. . .
So GLAD I finally got a good shot of her !!!!!

FREE DAY LILY PLANTS!!!!

Yes. . .That's what I said. . .FREE DAY LILIES. . .
As I've stated before, I have no green thumb. . .
but lilies are one flower that seems to multiply every year. . .
We now have more than we can take care of. . .

At one time there were several different types of Heritage Day Lilies. . .
. . .but the only ones we have now are. . .
ORANGE WITH A DOUBLE BLOOM. . .
They are very 'lacey'  and so charming. . .requiring little maintenance at all. . .
Honest. . .

Fall is a good time to plant the day lilies
so that you'll have them blooming by next Spring/Summer.
If you're local (in the Dell, Arkansas area) and interested in coming to dig your own,

EMAIL US

with your phone number and we'll give you a call to set up a time.

Digging is best after a rain.
You should bring your own buckets or boxes to put the plants in. . .
and of course a shovel. . .
small spades won't work well. . .

Hope to see you soon. . .

Sharecropper and Tenant Agreements 1945

I found an amazing Special Arkansas Bulletin prepared by
THE WILSON PLANTATION on July 20, 1945 about the
farming opportunities and the various offers to families interested in the share crop or land rental.
It was written under the War Relocation Authority for the Japanese Americans,
but I'm sure the opportunities would apply to others.

I have often spoken about the sharecropper/tenant and the contract
made with the land owner, so I was thrilled to come across
this actual booklet which lines out the terms of the three types of contracts available.

There is some invaluable information about the farming industry of the
area in 1943-45 also.

Talk about local history!!!!!
